Solanco heavyweight Bo Spiller captured the prestigious Beast of the East wrestling tournament in Newark, Del., Sunday. Spiller capped a dominant performance that included his 100th career win with an 11-2 major decision over Saul Wilkins of GAR Memorial in the title match. Spiller outscored his last three opponents 29-5 after scoring first period pins in his first two matches. Spiller was the lone Mule to place in the challenging tournament. Grayson Charles (113) went 2-2. He won his first two matches by tech fall and pin before dropping consecutive bouts. Taylor Morrison (120) opened with a victory before losing twice. AJ Wilson (126) posted a pin in the first round and then lost two decisions. Owen Stull (132) dropped both of his bouts. Wyatt Jennings (138) sandwiched a win between two losses. Kody Hart (145) fell twice. Dalton Groff (152) went 3-2. He lost his first round match, lost in the second round, and then won two straight before being eliminated in the fourth round of consolations. Hunter Smith (160) lost twice. Shane DeVoe won three of his five matches, losing his opener, recording three straight wins, and then losing in the fourth round of consolations. Solanco 43, Manheim Township 28 The Mules downed the Blue Streaks in a dual meet last Thursday. Zach Spade (113), Morrison, Hart and Wilson each triumphed by fall. Jennings prevailed by major decision. Sheldon Peiffer (106) and Matt Hastings (182) each won a decision. Groff and Spiller each received a forfeit. Solanco 48, McCaskey 21 Solanco defeated the visiting Red Tornado Tuesday, December 16. Spiller, Morrison, Wilson, and Jennings each won by fall.
