The Solanco JV baseball team split a pair of games last week. The Mules upended host Lebanon 7-4 last Thursday. Solanco scored a run in the top of the first on a walk to Phil Probst and a triple by Dawson Gote. Gote got the start and wriggled out of a bases loaded jam when freshman third baseman Blaine Lavin forced a runner at the plate.
Gote worked 2 1/3 innings before being relieved by Phil Quinn. Trailing 2-1, the Mules tied the game when Probst walked and eventually scored on a groundout by Gote. Down 3-2 in the fourth, Matt Gote tripled and scored on a Noah McCardell single. McCardell advanced to third as Josh Kreider singled on a hit-and-run and McCardell scored as Kreider was stealing second base to give Solanco a 4-3 edge. Lebanon tied the game in the bottom of the inning before Solanco rallied for three runs in the fifth. Tony Osbourne doubled, Matt Gote singled, and Kreider singled to plate Osbourne. Jarrett McGuire then singled to score Matt Gote. McGuire stole second and scored on a Mike Worthington single. Colin Ewaka pitched the fifth to earn a save and preserve the win for Quinn in the time-shortened contest. The defense flashed the leather in the fifth as Derek Lavin and Worthington made fine plays at third and short respectively. Conestoga Valley downed the Mules 7-3 Monday, April 28 in just Solanco's third home game. The Buckskins plated three runs in the first two innings. Solanco tied the score in the third. Matt Gote reached on an error. The Mules strung together four two-out hits – consecutive singles by Worthington, McGuire, Probst, and Dawson Gote. CV got some clutch hits of their own to score four runs with two out in the fifth to reclaim the lead. Comments are closed.
