The Solanco boys and girls cross country teams got off to a good start in a home meet Tuesday, September 3. The Solanco boys secured three wins and the girls recorded two victories. The Mule boys defeated Donegal (19 -36), Ephrata (20-39) and Warwick (21-34).Noah Brady led the boys with a first place finish in a time of 18:08. "Noah ran a strong race pulling away from his nearest competitor and flaming the victory by 50 seconds," coach Craig Ausel said. "Noah worked very hard this summer and his hard work is already paying dividends. " Liam Hodgson was in next for the Mules finishing third in a time of 18:54. "It was a very respectable race for the sophomore," Ausel said.
Matthew Curran finished fifth at 19:17, running a very smart race and securing some valuable points, Ausel said. Kyle Munro finished in sixth place at 19:26. "Kyle went out a little fast but finished strong," Ausel said. Rounding out the official scoring was senior captain Connor Brown. He finished in the 15th position at a time of 20:54. The Mules got some support from two freshman in the sixth and seventh positions, with Alec Munro and Connor Neaves finishing 20th and 23rd respectively. The Solanco girls topped Donegal (21-34) and Warwick (21-34) and lost to a solid Ephrata squad, 24-31. Freshman Morgan Perry captured the girls race in a time of 21:54 over the tough 3.1 mile Solanco course. "Morgan ran a smart race, easily pulling away from the field in the final mile," said Ausel. Natalie Crum placed fifth in 22:39 and Essi Glah-Fisher was eighth at 23:03, going out strong and running a solid race. Julia Whitehill finished in 13th place in 23:45 and secured some very important points in the two wins. Rounding out the top five scorers was Carly Allport. Allport ran a strong race and finished a solid 16th overall at 24:03. "We have some work to do to narrow the gap between our number one and number five runners," Ausel said. The Mules received additional support from Denise Brenneman (28th), Kathleen White (29th), and Aliah-Mei Foulk (30th). Comments are closed.
