It was one of those games where the game really was closer than the final score indicated.
The Solanco Lacrosse Club's boys high school-age squad lost 6-0 to visiting Coatesville in extremely windy conditions Saturday morning.
"I was happy, overall," Solanco coach Mike Minchhoff said. "A few mistakes really cost us the game. Three or four mistakes really cost. That turned a 2-0 into a 6-0 game pretty quickly."
"The entire defense played well," said Minchhoff, who singled out goalie Avery Metz, and defenders Caleb Billings, Luke Withers, Jake Smolik, and Brian Slocum. "Our long-pole defenders. Our goalie played pretty well. That's our defensive corps and they played really well."
The Mules made some adjustments which paid dividends.
"Our last game we had a problem where we weren't really pressuring out on defense," Minchhoff said. "We changed our gameplan and that really paid off. They had more turnovers than they had last game. The last game, they just came down and passed the ball around without a whole lot of pressure. This game, we put more pressure on their guys."
Solanco is 2-2 on the season with two road games remaining.
