The undefeated Solanco JV softball team put up some staggering numbers last week. The Mules scored a whopping 70 runs in just 10 innings of play and did not surrender a run. Solanco pitchers allowed just one hit all week as Sierra Dean tossed a perfect game and a no-hitter. The Mules mauled Cedar Crest 16-0 in four innings Friday.
Dean did not allow a hit and fanned five while yielding three walks. "Sierra had good velocity and movement on her ball," coach Chad McDowell said. "She was able to keep the Cedar Crest hitters off balance throughout the game." Kayla May was 3 for 3 with a double and six RBIs. Skyla Townsley had two hits including a home run and three RBIs. Dean, Aleksa Burger, and Gabby Sheets both recorded two hits and two RBIs. Tori Lawson singled, stole two bases, and knocked in a run. Georgia Ewing singled in a run. Last Wednesday, Solanco steamrolled Warwick 26-0 in three innings. Townsley tossed a one-hitter with four strikeouts and one walk. "Skyla's ball had good movement and she had real good control of the inside corner," said McDowell. Mules hitters combined to go 21 for 30. "At the plate we were seeing the ball very well and made real solid contact," McDowell said. Desiree Dehaven delivered three hits, including two triples, and drove in two. Ewing collected three hits including a triple and three RBIs. Noelle Schneider provided three hits including a triple and five RBIs. Burger was 3 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs. Townsley notched three hits and three RBIs. Gabby Sheets had two hits and an RBI. Dean added a single and knocked in two. Maddison Pluck contributed a single and an RBI. May doubled in a run and Aubrey Sheets chipped in a single. On Monday, April 18, May hurled a perfect game as Solanco pummeled Manheim Township 28-0 in three innings. May recorded two strikeouts. "Kayla threw the ball very well," said McDowell. "She kept the ball down in the strike zone and generated six ground ball outs." Lindsey Lane led the Mules' offense with a grand slam. May was 3 for 3 with a triple and four RBIs. Dean supplied three hits and three RBIs. Lawson added three hits and two RBIs. Kaitlyn Dobinson had a double, single, and two RBIs. Townsley recorded a single and two RBIs. Dehaven had a single and an RBI. Kelsey Sheets did not have an official at bat, but walked twice, was hit by a pitch twice, and scored four runs.
