by Bud Hart The Mules continue to struggle, losing three games last week. The Donegal Indians outscored host Solanco 35-24 in the second half defeating the Mules 66-53 on Tuesday, January 9. Down by only two at the half, Solanco lost the scoring battle in the third quarter as the visitors held a 53-42 advantage entering the final quarter of play.
Braden Redcay led the Mules with 14 points, including a six for eight completion ratio from the charity stripe. Both Jack Boomsma and Dawson Kreider hit double digits with 11 points. Jon Rush connected for eight points, including a couple of three pointers. Aaron Constein drained the nets for five, with Zac Baker and Carson Kilgore each contributing two points. On Thursday, January 11, the Ephrata Mountaineers jumped out to a 12-5 first quarter lead and never looked back defeating the visiting Mules 63-47. The Mountaineers held a 34-20 lead at the half and outscored the Mules 29-27 in the second half to earn the win. Head coach Scott Long had eight Mules add to the scoring column with Constein leading the way with 11 points on the night. Kilgore scored nine points, Rush seven, Boomsma six, sophomore Jalen Henry five, Redcay four, senior Austin Daniels three and senior Jason Boyle two. The Mules connected on seven of nine from the charity stripe. Visiting New Holland on Friday, January 12, Solanco left the home of the Spartans with a 75-41 loss. Garden Spot held the Mules to nine points in both the first and last quarter. The Spartans held a 38-21 halftime lead, and won the second half by nearly the same margin, 37-20. Constein led the Mules with 18 points, including a perfect four for four at the foul line. Rush scored six points, and Kreider, Redcay, Kilgore and Zac Wiker each netted three points. Boomsma and Boyle added two points to the column and Dom Messano one. Solanco connected on 11 of 19 from the charity stripe for a 58-percent completion ratio. Comments are closed.
