Cecil County had three second place finishers at the UCBAC wrestling tournament which concluded Tuesday in Aberdeen. Bohemia Manor's Matt Sciamanna (145) lost 8-4 to Harford Tech's Andrey Kalwa. Zac Zacerous of Perryville (152) dropped a 7-4 decision to Bel Air's Cameron Watts. Zacerous led 4-3 with 10 seconds left. With his arms under the Perryville sophomore's arms and clasped behind his back, Watts threw Zacerous up over his head and to the mat. Watts had tried the same move twice earlier but each time Zacerous scrambled out of trouble. But this time, Watts was able to get Zacerous in a headlock to score a takedown and earn two back points.
In the 220-pound final, Patterson Mill's Joe King defeated Bohemia Manor's Cody Dermeyer 6-2. Six Cecil wrestlers placed third. Matt Childs of Rising Sun (106) posted a 7-5 overtime win over Bel Air's Cody Seibel in the consolation finals. The Tigers' Jack Lough (132), North East's Collin Beck (152), Elkton's Zaavan Kenenske (160), the Elks' DeValle Williams (170), and Bohemia Manor's Rodney Fisher (195) each finished third. Cecil's fourth place finishers: North East's Colin Day (113) and Tyler Miller (120), Bohemia Manor's Josh Hewes (126) and Preston Kist (138), and Elkton's Enes Dugme (285). With five individual champions, Bel Air (153.5) rolled to the team title witgh Patterson Mill (169.5) second followed by 3. Harford Tech (147), 4. Fallston (133.5), 5. Aberdeen (126), 6. North Harford (125), 7. Bohemia Manor (105.5), 8. Rising Sun (75.5), 9. North East (72.5), 10. Elkton (69.5), 11. (tie) Edgewood (53), Perryville (53), 13. C. Milton Wright (49), 14. Havre de Grace (47), 15. Joppatowne (32). The region tournament will be held Saturday at North East High. Wrestling begins at 10 a.m. with the finals scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Comments are closed.
