The Rising Sun volleyball team swept visiting Bohemia Manor Tuesday, September 26. The Tigers triumphed 25-15, 25-14, 25-23. Bo Manor gave the Tigers a scare in the third set. "We haven't seen Bo Manor for I don't know how long," Rising Sun coach Rich Wilson said. "We went over and watched them play Elkton but you couldn't really tell much from that. But they surprised us. I think they knocked us back on our heels there a couple times."
Wilson likes the way his team is coming together. "We're starting to get back to full strength," said Wilson. "We got Carolyn (McMullen) back for a game. That's the first time she's played since the second scrimmage. We should get Sophie (Eckerd) back next week so we're finally rounding to full strength so we can see what the team actually looks like." The Tigers' coach was also impressed with the Eagles. "It was a good, hard-fought match," said Wilson. "Like I said, I didn't really know what to expect. But they were a pretty decent offensive team. Hat's off to them. I think they're good." Mackenzie Blevins sparked Rising Sun with 11 kills, 11 assists, and 11 assists. Grace Webb recorded seven kills and Emily Jackson supplied six to go along with a team-high 13 assists. Bo Manor led for much of the third game before Rising Sun rallied. "That's been one of our hallmarks so far all this season," said Wilson. "When we get behind, the girls really don't panic. They just keep doing what they're capable of doing. So far it's working out for us." TIGERS CAPTURE BULLDOG TOURNAMENT FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT TIME Rising Sun won the Bulldog Invitational Tournament at North Caroline September 23. The Tigers avenged a group stage loss to Leonardtown by winning 25=9, 24-19 in the championship match. Rising Sun downed Perryville 25-14, 25-20 in the semifinals. Blevins had 32 kills, 16 aces, and 59 assists in the tournament. Webb notched 33 kills, Jackson added 20, and Marley Spencer provided 12. Comments are closed.
