Rising Sun 6, North Harford 5 Rising Sun rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the victory Tuesday, May 15. Trailing 5-3 with one out, Molly Dill singled and Mia Sexton, Emily Consiglio, and Mackenzxie Smith each reached on errors. Ally Bradford delivered the game-winning hit to score Marissa Cooper, who was running for Consiglio. Dill was 4 for 4 and went the distance to notch the win. Bradford had three hits on the day,. Rising Sun 9, North East 8 The Rising Sun softball team squandered a six-run lead before recovering to fend off a feisty North East squad Monday, May 14. With the score tied 7-7, Rising Sun rallied for two runs in the home half of the fifth to retake the lead for good. Mackenzie Smith got things started by coaxing a walk and Ally Bradford singled to center. Allie Borchardt laid down a bunt and the Indians committed an error, allowing the go-ahead run to score and putting runners on the corners. After a strikeout, North East elected to issue an intentional walk to Alexa Hull and Bella Barbato followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 9-7.
Neither team scored again until the top of the seventh. Kasey Barrow led off with a double, her third hit of the game. Rising Sun's Molly Dill retired the next two hitters before Abby Riley delivered an RBI single through the hole. Riley finished with four RBIs on the day. Morgan Sargent was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second but Dill ended the game by getting Delaney McDilda on a fly ball to right. Rising Sun built an early 6-0 advantage. Hull and Dill each had an RBI single in the first. The Tigers tacked on four more in the second. Smith, Bradford, and Alyssa Paulette each singled to load the bases. Hull supplied a two-run single to right to pad the lead to 4-0 and Bradford later added a two-run double to left-center. North East got back into the game with four runs in the top of the fourth Riley recorded an RBI single and Jess Choplinsky contributed a two-run single up the middle to narrow the gap to 6-4. Mia Sexton's RBI single extended the lead to 7-4 before the Indians tallied three times in the fifth. Barrow singled and eventually scored on an error. Then Riley came through again, this time with a two-run single to center to knot the score. Undaunted, Rising Sun responded right away to regain the lead and hung on for the win. Comments are closed.
