The Rising Sun girls basketball team is on a roll. The Tigers (9-2) walloped visiting Bohemia Manor 53-22 Tuesday night. Leading 11-6 early in the third quarter, Rising Sun busted the game wide open with an 17-3 spurt. The Tigers led 15-6 when Paige Bradford scored and was fouled. Bradford was injured on the play and did not return. Lexi Osborne came on to hit the free throw then Brooke Bower made a free throw when the Eagles were assessed a technical for using a player who was not entered into the scorebook. Rising Sun scored eight straight points later in the quarter to lengthen the lead to 28-9.
The Tigers upped the margin to 51-21 with five minutes left in the fourth quarter and the rest of the game was played with a running clock. Rising Sun is performing its best heading into the stretch. "I'm glad it's at this point of the season," Tigers coach Kathy Stoudt said. "You never want to peak too early but we're playing our best basketball of the season right now. Even to lose Paige Bradford out of the game like that and have subs being able to go in. Everybody picked it up. And the best thing about our team is we're a team. You can't key on only one player. Everybody on the floor can score. We're just proving it night after night. Right now we're just on a roll." Bower collected 15 points, 10 rebounds, and seven steals for the Tigers. Courtney Spangler supplied 15 points and nine rebounds. Lexi Osborne added 11 points and 10 rebounds. "Courtney was huge," said Stoudt. "I told her when she came out, 'Your hustle is the heart of the program.' She is all over the place. She's a key for everything. Offense. Defense. Rebounding. She's just in the right spot. She's just a smart basketball player." Comments are closed.
