Zach Laird won the boys 1A East Region race to help the Bohemia Manor boys capture a 10th straight region crown last Thursday afternoon at Fair Hill. Bohemia Manor (28) dominated the team standings with Patterson Mill (68) second and Perryville (72) third. Both the Eagles and Panthers will be sending their entire teams to the state meet November 11. Bohemia Manor and Perryville also qualified its girls teams for the state meet. In Class 2A, both Rising Sun teams earned a berth in the state meet, as did the Elkton boys. The Elks finished fifth in the team competition, one spot ahead of the Tigers. Erick Sanchez of Kent Island won the race. Rising Sun's Asa Wilson was eighth to lead Cecil runners. Elkton put three athletes in the Top 20. Cameron Spaeth was 14th followed by Evan Shrewsbury (16th), and Nolan Clancy (19th). Other Elkton finishers: Tyler Vega 23rd and Zach Nerlinger 37th. Other Rising Sun finishers: 39. Erik Iverson, 42. In the girls race, Rising Sun's Emma Cease paced Cecil competitors by placing sixth overall and helping the Tigers to a fourth place finish in the team standings. Other Rising Sun finishers: 16.
