Bigger, faster, stronger The Havre de Grace boys lacrosse team was simply too much for a plucky Perryville squad. The host Warriors limited the Panthers to one goal over the final three quarters en route to a 12-4 victory in the playoff opener Friday night at Harris Stadium. "We talked at the end," Perryville coach Chris Soper said. "It was obviously not the outcome we wanted but I was proud of the effort. I thought we fought hard the entire time. I thought we played with a purpose. Look, for a while there I thought we were in pretty good shape. I think we ran out of juice as things went on."
Down 6-4 in the second quarter, Soper said he knew the next goal was crucial. Havre de Grace dominated the middle of the field and scored that one as well as the final six scores of the contest. "Havre de Grace has got some athletes," said Soper. "Bigger, Faster. Stronger in all areas. And that took its toll on us also, for sure. They're a very athletic team. They're talented." Kyle Cameron supplied six goals to lead the Warriors and Devin Morse scored three times. Brandon Rabbitt, Quinton Bushyager, and Sean Greeley each added a goal. Matt Woods and Matt Mannone both tallied twice for the Panthers. "Effort-wise, I said, 'listen, guys, that's what we've been trying to pull out of you all year'," Soper said. "I said, 'better late than never'. And even though we lost the game, we feel good about how we played." Comments are closed.
