The Bohemia Manor boys basketball team went on a 10-0 spurt midway through the fourth quarter en route to a 61-57 victory over host Perryville Tuesday night, December 11. The Eagles spurt started after the Panthers' Ben Roberts buried a three-pointer to bring his team within two, 42-40.
Anthony Pompilii scored eight of the 10 points in the run, beginning and ending it with a three-pointer to give Bohemia Manor a 52-40 edge with 2:56 remaining. Perryville battled back to make things interesting at the end. Emarion Hampton made a three-pointer to narrow the gap to 58-57 with 12 ticks left. After the Eagles' Damian Zimmers hit two free throws with 9.8 seconds to play, Perryville missed a potential game-tying three-pointer. Zimmers came away with the rebound and hit a free throw to seal the deal. Pompilii paced Bohemia Manor with 20 points and Zimmers finished with 11. Drew Lorman and Ethan Feeney each recorded 10 points. Roberts led all scorers with 28, including six three-pointers. Hampton supplied 13 points for the Panthers and Greg Riley chipped in 11. Perryville led for almost the entire first half. After the eagles scored the opening basket, the hosts embarked on an 11-0 run to take command. Bohemia Manor countered with eight straight to enter the second quarter trailing by a point. Roberts and Riley opened the second quarter with three-pointers and the Panthers never trailed again until the third quarter.
