Rising Sun finished third out of four teams in a season-opening golf match held at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club of Rising Sun last Thursday afternoon.
Bel Air (209) finished first followed by Mount Calvary Christian (Elizabethtown, Pa.) (221), the Tigers (228), and Aberdeen (230). Zach Van Dyke led Rising Sun with a 41 followed by Trenten Johnson and Derek Adams (45), Sean O'Donnell (47), Ryan Bauer (50), and Sarah Yashinskie (52). Tyler Pollitt of Perryville won individual honors by carding a 77 and Bohemia Manor captured the team title for the first time at the county golf tournament Tuesday, October 15 at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club of Rising Sun.
The Rising Sun golf team qualified for the state tournament by virtue of its performance at the District VII/UCBAC Tournament Tuesday at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club of Rising Sun.
The Tigers were first among 1A-2A schools and second behind Bel Air in the overall standings. Zach Van Dyke led the way with an 82 followed by Adam Janney (89), Nick Arrante (90), Zack Alexander (92), and Sean Goodie (102). Bohemia Manor's Lauren Mayse and Elkton's Genesis Diaz also advanced to the state tournament. Photographs and more results will be printed in the October 1 edition of The Herald. The Rising Sun golf team hosted a match with Havre de Grace and Patterson Mill last week. The match was halted by weather before it could be completed. |
