The Perryville volleyball team is going to the state semifinals for the fourth year in a row.
The Panthers captured the region title with a 25-11, 26-24, 25-13 win over host Colonel Richardson Friday evening. "I'm so proud of our team and the way we performed," coach Matt Borrelli said. "The girls played with great passion and determination. Everyone worked together and supported each other on the court." The Rising Sun volleyball team passed its toughest test of the season Friday night.
Their reward is another region title. The Tigers topped host North Caroline 25-17, 24-26, 25-10, 25-16. Perryville football coach Chris Johnson was so convinced his team got robbed of a playoff berth clinching victory the hyper-intense but always polite coach couldn't wait for his turn to be interviewed.
"You can print this," Johnson said to reporters who were talking with the Panthers' TyRell Hollingsworth following Perryville's gut-wrenching 31-27 loss to host North Harford. "Fricking crooked. That interference call was the most crooked call I've ever seen." The call Johnson was referring to came with North Harford facing a 4th down and 9 from the Perryville 28 and the Panthers clinging to a 27-24 lead with less than a minute remaining. VOLLEYBALL
