The Rising Sun baseball team scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to defeat C. Milton Wright 7-0 Friday afternoon.
Cole Benjamin tossed a complete game shutout with 11 Ks to earn the win. The Tigers were the designated visiting team for the game even though it was played in Rising Sun. The Rising Sun girls lacrosse team continues to show signs of improvement.
Using a strong passing game to quickly switch from defense to offense, the Tigers jumped on top early and went on to an 18-10 triumph over host Aberdeen Thursday night. It was a game the Perryville softball team would prefer to forget.
Playing their first home game of the season, the Panthers fell behind big early and would up losing 10-5 to Havre de Grace Tuesday. The Warriors jumped on top with a run in the first before exploding for six more in the second. Rising Sun held its only home track and field meet Tuesday.
Bel Air won both team competitions. The Bobcat boys (78) defeated Elkton (59) and the Tigers (59). The Rising Sun softball team topped visiting Havre de Grace 6-4 Monday.
The Tigers (3-2) built a 6-1 lead before withstanding a Warrior rally. Rising Sun baseball coach Clyde Van Dyke says his team's difficulty closing out games will come back to haunt the Tigers one day.
That day was not Saturday. Elkton rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh before Rising Sun held on for a 7-6 triumph. The Perryville girls lacrosse team topped North East and Bohemia Manor last week.
The Panthers pummeled Bohemia Manor 21-7 Friday afternoon. Havre de Grace outscored the Rising Sun girls lacrosse team 3-1 in overtime to top the Tigers 9-7 on a chilly, damp evening Wednesday.
