William R. “Billy” Mace of New Providence died at home Thursday, May 12, 2016. He was 80. Born in McAdoo, Pa., he was the son of the late William R. and Mary A. (Leist) Mace. Mr. Mace graduated from McAdoo High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. After serving, he continued his education at Penn State University graduating with an associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for various companies, including 20 years at the former RCA in equipment development as a designer/draftsman. He was extremely proud of the fact that he designed and built his own home with the help of his wife. Mr. Mace loved traveling and camping, having traveled all of “the lower 48”. He was proud of his coal region roots and often returned there to camp and visit relatives and friends. He never met a stranger and especially loved entertaining children with his vast array of magic tricks.
He was of Lutheran faith and attended Ascension Lutheran Church. He was the husband of Susan E. (VanCleve) Mace, to whom he was married for 33 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Renae (Vince) Paladino of Middletown, Rachelle (Randy) Kline of Hershey, one step-daughter, Coleen (Kevin) Deiter of Lampeter, along with three grandsons and 13 step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. from Ascension Lutheran Church, 600 Penn Grant Road, Willow Street, Pa. with Rev. Steven Bowser officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery. here will be a viewing at the church on Monday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to www.alzfdn.org.
