Pastor Gary L. Witham, born in Derry, NH on Nov. 5, 1947, passed away at his home In Strasburg, PA on Friday, May 29, 2020. His wife, Gloria, and several family members were with him when he died. Gary and Gloria celebrated their 30th anniversary on Jan. 20, 2020. He was the son of Pastor Calvin G. & Clara Witham. Gary and his wife attended Calvary Monument Bible Church. After serving in the United States Air Force, Gary pursued further education and received an Associate Degree from Albany Business College, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Vermont College in 1977 .He then taught Accounting, Business Law, Public Speaking, Marketing, and Economics at Albany Business College. In 1991, he and his wife moved to Warminster, PA to minister at Christ's Home for Children. They filled positions as House Parents for 4.5 years, then Gary became Chief of Operations. In 1996, they went to Baltimore MD where Gary graduated from Maryland Bible College and Seminary with a Bachelor of Church Ministries. In 2000, he was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel by Greater Grace World Outreach. While teaching there, he also attained a Master's Degree in 1999 and a Doctorate of Ministry Degree in 2000. In the past, he was president of Glens Falls, NY Rotary Club; he was Treasurer and Financial Officer for the Shushan Volunteer Fire Company of NY. Gary was also a small business owner in the Mobile and Modular Home Industry. In 1980 he and two other men started a mobile accounting office to service rural customers. For many years, he did pulpit supply in many New England churches. In 2001, Gary and Gloria moved to Lancaster County, PA where they became affiliated with Evergreen Estates Retirement Community. He served the residents there as Pastor until 2017. At the same time, he drove for an Amish construction company until he retired.
Gary is survived by his father, his wife, three children: Michael Witham of NY, Ada Lewis (Timothy) of Fallston MD, and Drew Armstrong (Karyn) of Seattle WA. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and 3 surviving siblings: Cheryl Ehrlich of NY, Jay Witham (Linda) of MA and Mary Etta (Ed Grabowski) of MA and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, and his sister, Juanita Bardon. A memorial service will be held at graveside of Calvary Monument Bible Church on Friday, June 5 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Chris Lenhart officiating.
