Mr. Slaughter was a self-employed program analyst.
He was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Oxford. He also participated with the Flight Club Chapter at Gateway Community Church. An avid pilot he was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He loved flying airplanes and reading, especially historical fiction. He also enjoyed traveling and following the Philadelphia Eagles. Mr. Slaughter was an aspiring actor who performed at the Allenberry Playhouse, Boiling Spring. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patricia E. Simpson Slaughter; six children, Jack, Zachary, William, Sara, Nathan, and Dustin; his sister, Patricia, wife of Don Hager of Baltimore; his brother, Frederick Jr., husband of Carol Slaughter of Pahrump, Nevada; his sister-in-law, Sheila Slaughter of Lexington, N.C.; nieces Jody Lamp and Donna Hager; and several other nieces and nephews. His brother, Edward Slaughter, is deceased. Friends may call at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 116 Lancaster Pike, Oxford, from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 29. A memorial service will be held from the church at 11 a.m. on that date with the Rev. Dr. Mary Ann Mertz officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio St., Suite 304, Chicago IL 60611-3201.
