Larry W. Groff, 69, of Willow Street PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. He was the husband of Marla R. Pressler Groff. They had celebrated 44 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster PA, Larry was a son of the late Maurice and Theda Myers Groff. A graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, and Penn State University, Larry was an accomplished musician. He was active in the Lampeter Strasburg Community Band, Malta Band, and the Red Rose Band, playing the saxophone. While at Penn State, he played in the Blue Band, and played in the Orange Bowl. He had proudly served in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant during the Viet Nam War. In addition to his wife Marla, he is survived by 2 daughters, Danielle R. Groff, and Stephanie L. Groff (Daryll Price), both of Willow Street, 2 granddaughters, Kiana, Abigail, 2 sisters, Karen Mitchell (Gene), Strasburg, Jolene Brill, Mountville, and a niece, Tina Havey, Strasburg.
Friends are invited to attend funeral services at Pequea Church, 40 Church Road, Lancaster, PA on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at 11:00 AM. With Pastor Mark Kopp officiating. Viewings will be held at Pequea Church on Monday from 6-8:00 PM, and on Tuesday from 10-11:00 AM. Interment will be in the Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 Second Lock Road, Lancaster, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lampeter- Strasburg Community Band, c/o Henry Miller, 202 W. Main Street, Strasburg, PA 17579.
