Howard Bernard Steinberg of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died at home on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. He was 91. Mr. Steinberg was born in New York City, a son of the late Julius and Belle Abramowitz Steinberg. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked for the Pennsylvania Bureau of Employment Security for many years. He had also worked for O.A. Clark at the Lancaster Stockyard and for the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Steinberg was an avid postcard collector and hobbyist. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Edwards Steinberg; two sons, Richard H., husband of Susan B. Steinberg, and Roger T., hsuband of Barbra Riley Steinberg; five grandchildren, Julie Christine Lowery, Brianna Lee Parish, Clay, husband of Carol W. Stuart, Andrew E., husband of Jayme H. Stuart, and Kaitlin Steinberg; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan Lowery, Austin Lowery, Ethan Stuart, Chloe Stuart, and Jackson Stuart. He is also survived by friends Steve and Penny Leed and their daughters, Dani and Missy, who provided years of friendship, support, and help. A daughter, Barbara A. Parish, is deceased. Friends may call at the Penn Hill Friends Meetinghouse, 2228 Robert Fulton Highway, Wakefield, from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 26. Services will beheld from the meeting house at 2 p.m. on that date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Penn Hill Friends Meeting in care of Ethel Kirk, 290 Pilottown Rd., Peach Bottom PA 17563.
