Harold Daniel Wesley Hight of Quarryville, PA, went to be with his Lord on March 30, 2015, at the age of 98. The Reverend Harold Hight served his Lord as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ for 67 years and, together with his wife Carmen Ford Hight, raised five children: Larry Kim Hight (Diane), Leilani E. Napp (Larry), Sharon L. Wheeles (Benjamin), Rejean M. McGalliard (Mike), and Loralee L. Holiman (William). Harold has spent his latter years residing at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community where he served on the staff of Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church as a minister to the seniors until his second retirement in 2009. Since then he has continued to serve as a member of the Quarryville Residents’ Council, on the visitation teams of Faith RPC and of QPRC, as a board member of Westminster Biblical Missions (until 2013), and as a faithful, praying father and friend to his family of 5 children, their spouses, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a beloved sister-in-law, Charlotte Billings, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & nephews as well as to many friends at QPRC. Harold was born March 14, 1917, in Seattle, Washington, the son of Edwin W. Hight and Ethel Cook. Harold was raised by his stepmother, Addie Cook Hight, following the death of both of his parents and his only brother, Wilbur. Harold earned his Masters of Divinity from Faith Theological Seminary, Wilmington, DE, in 1948. He and Carmen married in 1947. They served in six churches in various parts of the country, and as founder/headmaster and mentor at Faith Christian School in Sparta, IL. Carmen preceded Harold in death in 2013. He left a final message in his records, “I have set before them an example of godliness that they may know my yearning for each one to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior and so live as to honor him.”
A memorial service will take place at Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church, 611 Robert Fulton Hwy., Quarryville, PA on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Bates and Chaplain Steve Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 AM. Additional services will be held at the Rushville Community Church, 10 Gage Rd., Rushville, PA on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Cdr, William Holiman, USN officiating. There will be a viewing at the church from 10:30- 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Wycliff Bible Translators, P.O.
