Glen R. "Spec" Lefever of May Post Office Rd., Quarryville, died at home on Sunday, June 23, 2013. He was 75. Mr. Lefever was born in Eden Township, a son of the late J. Roy and M. Viola Yuninger Lefever. He apprenticed as a carpenter with Frank Herr and then worked as a self-employed building contractor. In 1987, he started working for the Strasburg Railroad; he retired from the railroad in 2009. Mr. Lefever was a member of Mt. Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church, where taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served as chairman of the property and building committee.
He also served on Eden Township's planning and zoning board. Work was his hobby. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers with his friends. He is survived by three children, Kimberly Lefever of Walden, N.Y., Kathi Lefever of Quarryville, and Craig, husband of Ginger Lefever of Millersville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Pauline, wife of Carl Absher of Quarryville, and Donna, wife of George Spade of Quarryville. His wife, Janet Wimer Lefever, died in 1979. Friends may call at Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, 144 E. State St., Quarryville, from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2. Services will be held from the funeral home at 2 p.m. on that date with Pastor Stephen Weaver officiating. Burial will be the Mt. Eden Lutheran Cemetery. Comments are closed.
