Fred J. Fisher, 80, of Willow Street, entered into rest on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Refton, he was the son of the late Jacob E. and Anna (Sigman) Fisher. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jeanne (Wade) Fisher. Fred served our country in U.S. Army Reserves. He retired from Armstrong World Industries and went on to work in the Berks County Controller’s Office and Highmark Inc. He was a former member of Smithville Church of God, where he was past president of the church council. As an active member of the community, he was the past district chairman of Penna. Dutch Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was also active in Boy Scout Troop 58 in Willow Street. Fred was a hunter safety course instructor for over 50 years with the Solanco Sportsman’s Assoc. He was also a past Emergency Management Coordinator for West Lampeter Twp. Fred had been attending Willow Street Mennonite Church. In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by 2 children: Jeff, fiancé of Darby Sumpman of Columbia and Jennifer, wife of Neil Wennerholt of Willow Street; 5 grandchildren: Callie and Cody Fisher and Caitlin, Madison, and Olivia Wennerholt. He was preceded in death by 2 siblings: Nancy Murphy and Glenn Fisher.
A funeral service will take place at Willow Street Mennonite Church, 399 E. Penn Grant Rd., Willow Street, PA on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing at the church from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
