Frank E. Walsh, Jr., 93, formerly of Scranton, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Twin Pines Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Ethelmary (Wagner) Walsh. Frank was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1943. After high school, he proudly served his county in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946, earning the rank of Radioman 3rd Class, serving in the Pacific Theater and the Philippines. Frank attended college for a short time, then went on to be employed by the US Postal Service as a Parcel and Mail Carrier, retiring in 1988 with 30 years of service. Frank had the opportune employment as a mail carrier because he loved walking. He also genuinely loved people and enjoyed being with friends and family. Fishing was one of Frank’s favorite pastimes. He is survived by his children, Francis Walsh and wife Theresa, of Philadelphia, Kathy Walsh, of Philadelphia, Helene Roseberry and husband Brian, of Upper Southampton, and Joseph Walsh and wife Kim, of Quarryville. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters.
Due to the COVID-19 public gathering prohibitions, services will be private. Private interment will take place at a later date in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
