Chester Willis, of Oxford, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia. He was 87. He was the husband of Colean Brewer Willis. Born on a farm in Lincoln University, he was the son of the late Millard Willis and Mamie Johnson Willis Pate. He was pastor of the Bible Church of Jesus Christ, Elkton, MD. Chester farmed in Southern Chester County for many years. He retired from Modern Mushroom in West Grove as the maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking and the scent of freshly plowed soil and cut hay. He is survived by his wife; eight children, Doris Jean Mock and husband, Stephen of Oxford, Dwight Willis and wife, Susie of Shade Gap, Douglas Willis and wife, Margie of Columbus, OH, Calvin Willis and wife, Teresa of Indianapolis, IN, Millard Willis and wife, Noreen of West Chester, Stephen Edwards and wife, Carol of Quarryville, Sandra Scotten of Akron, PA and Diane Edwards of Aberdeen, MD; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertie Underwood of Cochranville; brother, Kenny Pate of Oxford; and many nieces, nephews, cousins; family friend, Patricia Testerman.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, two sisters, Bessie Barnett, Elsie Onks, brother, Richard Pate and step-father, Sam Pate. Funeral services were held at 11 am Friday, October 24th ,at the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford, PA, where friends and family visited from 9 – 11 am. Interment will be in Faggs Manor Cemetery Cochranville.
