Mary E. Angeline of Landisville died at Lancaster General Hospital on Sunday, February 22, 2015. She was 75. Miss Angeline was born in Drumore Township, a daughter of the late John and Madeline Distefano Angeline. She graduated from Solanco High School. Miss Angeline worked for Armstrong World Industries for more than 40 years. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church and had been a parishioner at St. Catherine of Seina Catholic Church, Quarryville, for more than 20 years. William C. Hickey of Little Britain Twp., formerly of Upper Chichester, died Tuesday, February 10 at Jennersville Hospital. He was 87. He was born in Twin Oaks to George and Myrna Hickey. He was raised and educated in Marcus Hook. Mr. Hickey worked for many years for the Sun Oil Company until his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 709, the Millington, Md., Moose Lodge, was an honorary member of the Friendship Fire Company and was a member of the Sun Honor Club. Benjamin Harrison Herr Jr. of Lakewood, Wash., died on January 6, 2015. He was 81.
Mr. Herr was born in Southern Lancaster County, a son of the late Benjamin H. and Kathryn Wolfe Herr. He served in a helicopter division in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and went on to serve for 22 years. Doris Mae Good of One Masonic Dr., Elizabethtown, died on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. She was 100. Mrs. Good was born in Cecil County, Md., a daughter of the late Russell and Livinia Reynolds. She lived in Holtwood before moving to the Masonic Homes. Mrs. Good worked for the former Schick Co., Lancaster, for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of the Robert Fulton Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Quarryville, and had served as the chapter's Worthy Matron numerous times. Bruce G. Groff of Conestoga died on Saturday, January 17, 2015. He was 71. Mr. Groff was born in Lancaster, a son of the late John J. and Francis Graybill Groff. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Groff worked as an engineering technician for Case New Holland for 40 years before retiring. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Union County Sportsman Club and the Octoraro Hunt Club of Centre County. Orion E. Carter of Willow Street died on Saturday, January 10, 2015. He was 72. Mr. Carter was born in Quarryville, a son of the late Orion Sr. and Mary Adams Carter. He graduated from the Philadelphia School for the Deaf in 1963. Mr. Carter worked as a printer for Intelligencer Printing Company, Lancaster, for 36 years before retiring. He was a longtime member of the Lancaster Association of the Deaf and a member of Keystone Deaf Senior Center, Witmer. Nancy Frey of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. She was 84. Mrs. Frey was born in Lampeter, the third child of the late Elmer and Catharine Mower Witmer. She grew up on the family farm and attended secretarial school. Mrs. Frey worked for the Lancaster Gas Company until she resigned to become a full-time mother and help on the family farm. She also worked at the West Willow Farmers' Association and as Pequea Township's secretary. She retired from the township in 2006. Mary J. Perkins of Lancaster died on Saturday, November 8, 2014. She was 71. Mrs. Perkins was born in Manassas, Va., a daughter of the late Oscar and Minnie Sheets Blevins. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Conestoga Valley Church of Christ. Mrs. Perkins enjoyed flowers and trips to the beach. Patricia A. "Patty" Levering of Quarryville died on Friday, October 10, 2014, following a long illness. She was 57. Mrs. Levering was born in West Grove, a daughter of Shirley May Marlin Speakman of Peach Bottom and the late James Reburn. She worked for Pepperidge Farms, Denver, for 18 years. Cora M. Trimble of Groffdale Dr., Quarryville, Pa., died at home on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. She was 84. Mrs. Trimble was born in Colora, a daughter of the late Rome and Clara McCall Howell. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Trimble enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, solving crossword puzzles, and playing with her grandchildren. She was an animal lover and especially enjoyed her dogs. |
