Martha T. Gibbs of Kirkwood died on Friday morning, December 5, 2014. Mrs. Gibbs was born in Olney, Md., and lived in Fulton, Howard County, Md. She attended St. Mary's College, St. Mary's, Md., and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, Md. Carol Ann Knight Johnson of Oxford died at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. She was 68. Mrs. Johnson was born in Red Wing, Minn., a daughter of the late Edward and Naomi White Knight. She had worked as a housekeeper for Birth Care and Family Health Services, Georgetown. Jane Ann L. Schwarz Huyser of Holtwood died at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy, on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. She was 50.
Mrs. Huyser was born in Hackensack, N.J., a daughter of Victor F. and Jane A. Sarro Schwarz of New Providence. She lived in Wykcoff, N.J., before moving to Holtwood. A devout Christian, she was a member of Shiloh Community Fellowship, Quarryville. Mary J. Perkins of Lancaster died on Saturday, November 8, 2014. She was 71. Mrs. Perkins was born in Manassas, Va., a daughter of the late Oscar and Minnie Sheets Blevins. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Conestoga Valley Church of Christ. Mrs. Perkins enjoyed flowers and trips to the beach. Betty Saylor McMullen of Quarryville died at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Friday, November 7, 2014. She was 92. Mrs. McMullen was born in West Chester, a daughter of the late Clyde T. and Dorothy Keim Saylor. She earned a teaching degree in physical education from West Chester University. She and her husband moved to Quarryville in 1952. Dr. Richard Henry "Dick" Stoneback Sr. of Strattanville died at DuBois Regional Medical Center on October 25, 2014. He was 81. Dr. Stoneback was born in East Greenville, a son of the late William Henry and Laura Neiman Stoneback. He graduated from Quakertown High School and earned a bachelor of science degree from Penn State University. He earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School in 1958. Sharon L. Rohrer of Peach Bottom died on Thursday, November 6, 2014. She was 49. Miss Rohrer was born in Lancaster, a daughter of Scott S. and Ruth Ann Church Rohrer. She worked in the restaurant business in Florida for several years. Miss Rohrer enjoyed the outdoors and riding four-wheelers. She also enjoyed working on crafts, especially woodworking. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her stepmother, Alice Rohrer; three sisters, Patricia A. Urey, Tammy L. Long, and Sandy D. Testerman; her brother, Scott S. Rohrer; her stepsister, Christina Mylin; her stepbrother, Leonard Biernacki; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at the Lancaster County Sportsmen Association, 573 Hilldale Rd., Holtwood, from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 16. Arrangements were made through Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Quarryville. Christi Marie Rodgers of Peach Bottom fell in the line of duty on Friday, October 24, 2014. She was 26. Mrs. Rodgers was born in Lancaster, a daughter of David and Janice Harven Jackson. She worked as a scheduler and caregiver for Caring Matters Inc., Lancaster. Janet G. Chambers, 91, of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, entered into rest on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Born in Greenock, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late Robert W. and Margaret (Reid) Grott. She is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Robert C. Chambers.
Willis F. "Fred" Rineer of the Mennonite Home, Lancaster, died at home on Thursday, September 4, 2014. He was 87. Mr. Rineer was born in Green Tree, a son of the late Guy H. and Mary G. Haubert Rineer. He lived in Quarryville before moving to the Mennonite Home. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a track foreman for the Pennsylvania Railroad until he retired. Mr. Rineer was a member of Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church. |
