Betty J. Nissley, 88, of Lancaster, passed away on August 20, 2016 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Penn Township Manheim on May 27, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Abram K. Flory and Florence (Garman) Flory. Growing up she worked on her parents dairy farm in Manheim and participated in 4-H showing Dairy Cattle & Baby Beef winning many awards at local events as well as at the PA Farm Show. Betty married J. Ernest Nissley, May 1952. They moved to Quarryville in 1958 where she worked with her husbands Solanco Insurance Agency as an associate for 37 years. After her husband’s death in 1993, she did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, Hospice of Lancaster County & her church food bank. Betty was a member of New Life Assembly of God, served as Deaconess, and was very active in her church. She loved to go bowling, competing in the Senior Olympics, camping with her husband, family & grandchildren. Betty is survived by her three children and their spouses. Dixie wife of Dale Eberly of Strasburg, PA, Dean husband of Pat Nissley of Strasburg, PA and Denny husband of Sandy Nissley of Manassas, VA; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and her brother Abram Flory husband of Grace of Manheim.
A Memorial Service will be held at New Life Assembly of God, 1991 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:30am. Graveside Service at Mechanics Grove Church of the Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA at 2:30pm.
