Ronald "Ronnie" D. Monk, 64, of Little Britain, entered into rest after a short battle with cancer on Sunday, September 10th, 2023. Ronnie was born on February 19th, 1959. He was the son of Laura Kilgus and the late Carl Monk. Ronnie was previously employed by The Buck Iron. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching old western movies and TV shows, and spending time with his family and friends. Joshua Wayne Whisman, 42, of New Providence, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Born in Hershey, he was the son of the late David Wayne Whisman and Deborah Irene (Woods) Boyd. He was the step-son of the late James Boyd. Josh was the loving husband of Brandi (Zook) Whisman for over 18 years. Josh had worked as a landscaper for several years. He loved riding his Harley Sportster and cooking for his large family. He was known for his amazing Mac N’ Cheese. He also enjoyed camping and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. Josh loved always being right and making others laugh. Gilbert Franklyn Ashley, beloved husband, father and brother, departed this life for his home in heaven on September 9, 2023, his 73rd birthday. He bravely faced serious health challenges in his later years, yet deeply cherished his life, no matter his difficulties. Born in Waterbury, CT, he was the son of the late Franklyn and Lucille (Guilbert) Ashley. He graduated from the former Staunton Military Academy in 1968, from Dickinson College in 1972 and from Villanova Law School in 1975. At Staunton, he was on the rifle team. As a law student, he was a Case and Comment Editor for the Villanova Law Review. Bruce Letterman, age 76, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 11, 2023. Bruce was a faithful Christian and active member of Newark Baptist Church. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Bruce was deeply devoted to his family and loved anytime that the family could be together. Elizabeth C. "Liz" Cherry, age 83, of Nottingham, PA, surrounded by her family at home, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 8, 2023. She was the wife of James G. Cherry, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Robert & Isabella Scott Carnwath. A member of Calvary Monument Bible Church of Paradise, she enjoyed greeting and welcoming all who walked through the door. She is a graduate of Haverford High School and Penn State University with a degree in Home Economics. Liz was a loving wife, mother and grandmother along with being an amazing friend to many. Homemaker extraordinaire, she delighted in gardening, baking, sewing and kayaking with friends. The joy of the Lord is my strength is something Liz lived by especially in the challenging final years of her life. Margaret R. Kreider, 81, of Nottingham, died September 8, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, John W. Kreider; daughter, Janet Alger (Lisa Smith); step -daughter, Joann Moorer; step-son, Jeffrey Kreider (Jennifer); two granddaughters and a sister, Mary Hinkle. She was born in Broadway, Virginia on January 22, 1942 to the late Rev. A.T. and Pearl (Eaton) Rollins. For the first half of her life, she resided in Rockingham Co., Virginia. Margaret was a graduate of Eastern Mennonite High School, Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and Eastern Mennonite University, all in Harrisonburg, VA. Joanne C. Charles, 92, of New Providence, passed away at her home on Friday, September 8, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Herbert J. “Herbie” Charles, sharing 62 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2011. Born in East Drumore Township, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lida (Overly) Wimer. Working alongside her husband, Joanne was employed by Hiram Peoples Hatchery for her entire career, retiring with over 60 years of service. She had a love for flowers, having many flowers on display in her home. Over the years Joanne made many friends as a visiting volunteer at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Joanne had a great love for Herbie and she missed him immensely since his passing. Martha Jane "Marti" Saner, age 65 of Quarryville, PA, passed away at Ephrata Hospital on Friday, September 8, 2023. She was the wife of Trent R. Saner, with whom she celebrated 38 years of marriage with on May 4th. She was the daughter of the late Leon C. and Martha Rhoads Landis. She attended Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from Solanco High School class of 1975. In her early years, she worked for Sperry New Holland, then she and her husband opened Saner Architectural Millwork, Inc. of Quarryville. Donald R. Donald R. (Dick) Eager, 89, formerly of Quarryville, peacefully went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Paramount Senior Living in Maytown, PA. Born in New Providence, he was the son of the late George and Myrtle Shissler Eager and was the husband of the late Irene Creter Eager for 67 years. He was preceded in death by three brothers, George (June), Roy, and Dave and three sisters – Bertha (Bert) Wade, Evelyn (Eb) LeFevre, Dorothy (Dot) Hess. Colean Willis, 87, of Oxford, PA, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023 Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, PA. She was the wife of the late Chester Willis. Born in Cabbage Branch, TN, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Mary Opal Hollaway Brewer. Colean was a member and co-founder of the Bible Church of Jesus Christ, Elkton, MD. She was the first bookkeeper for Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford and retired in 2001 after 17 years of service. |
