Wanda “Jeannie” (Schilling) Peffer, 63, of Quarryville, PA, passed away at her home surrounded by family after a brief illness. Wanda was predeceased by her husband Vincent J. Peffer, Jr. who died in 1996. Wanda was born at Fort Bragg, NC, a daughter of Winnie B. Lucas Schilling of Pylesville, MD, and the late Henry Charles Schilling. Wanda was recently retired from Turkey Hill Minit Markets office, where she was employed for over 40 years. After retirement, Wanda enjoyed working with children in the IU13 program at Quarryville Elementary School. Thomas G. Thomas G. Huller Sr, 70, of Christiana, PA, passed away on September 5, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the beloved husband of Eileen Huller (Keegan). They would have celebrated 52 years of marriage on September 9, 2019. He was a member of the Quarryville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was employed by Fisher Scientific for 45 years. He enjoyed watching Philadelphia sports teams, reading and classics movies. Lois J. (Eshleman) Myers, 88, of Quarryville, entered into rest unexpectedly on Sunday, September 8, 2019. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Parke and Orella (Moss) Eshleman. Her husband, Richard R. “Dick” Myers died in 2014. Lois loved gardening and growing tomatoes. Every summer at the Buck, her tomato stand was a familiar sight. Lois also painted and wall-papered several homes throughout Lancaster County. She was an active member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, Quarryville Fire Company Auxiliary, and served on the Audit Committee for East Drumore Twp. Jolene M. Watson, 87, of Lancaster, PA, formerly of Holtwood, PA, passed away on September 5, 2019. She was the widow of George L. Watson who passed away in 2002. Born in Lancaster, PA, a daughter of the late John and Helen Rineer Weidman. Jolene had retired from the former RCA, Lancaster, GE, and Burle Industries. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Jolene is survived by her daughter, Wendy M. Watson, Lancaster. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Little Britain Presbyterian Church 255 Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom, PA. Kenneth L. Rose, 82, of Nottingham, entered into rest on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care. Born in Richmond, Virginia, he was the son of the late John Herbert and Irma Lee (Reid) Rose. He was the loving husband of Janice (Cobb) Rose for 61 years. Ken was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Quarryville. He had worked for Anchor Motor Freight. Ken was a veteran of the United States Airforce. He had a proud and profound love of country and the preservation of constitutional liberty and freedom. In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by sons: John L. Rose of Chatsworth, GA; Patrick M. Rose of Faber, VA; Kenneth L. Rose, II of Lancaster; and daughters: Mary Anne Rose of Wenatchee, WA; Teresa L. Rose of Boise, ID; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, John H. Rose, II of Richmond, VA and Warren L. Rose of Columbia, VA. June Lee Wagner, 80, of Quarryville, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. She was the loving wife of the late John A. Wagner, with whom she shared 25 years of marriage until his passing in 2017. Born in Delaware, June was the daughter of the late William and Edna (Hedrick) Carroll. June was a graduate of Alexis I. duPont High School, class of 1957. After high school, she went on to work for Continental American Life Insurance Company, retiring with 43 years of service. Dolores S. Mumma, 81, formerly of Lancaster, entered into rest at Elizabeth Manor in Elizabethtown on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.
Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late B. Frank and Esther (Stauffer) Sangrey. Dolores was an active member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Lancaster, where she participated in the weekly Bible study. She also helped with the church’s annual yard sale and was a member of the congregation’s “Red Hat Ladies”. Frank Connor, 86, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care. Born in Philadelphia, he came to Quarryville at the age of six and was raised by the Walter Haverstick family. Frank was the loving husband of Naomi (Eberly) “Punk” Connor for 39 years. Frank was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a self-employed plumber for many years. Frank was active in the Quarryville community. He was a Past Master in the Washington Lodge # 156, F&A.M., a member of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge, a life-member of the American Legion and a member of Zion U.C.C. To the sounds of “Canadian Sunset”, Norma Ann (Phenegar) Herr of Quarryville, PA, took the hand of her Heavenly Father and joined her beloved husband on Sunday, September 1, 2019. In her teenage years after playing tennis in Lancaster City with a friend, Norma and her friend hitched a ride home with Richard Allen (Dick) Herr, who would come to be her future husband of over 60 years. Born in Strasburg Twp., she was the daughter of the late Park Wesley and Evelyn Mae (Zook) Phenegar. After graduating from McCaskey High School, Norma worked at Armstrong Corporation in the secretarial pool. She went on to work and retire in the insurance industry, in the Quarryville area. |
