Stanley Wade "Gus" Shoff of Nottingham died at home April 4, 2015. He was 72.
For much of his life, Mr. Shoff worked as a carpenter and truck driver. He was a member of Rising Sun American Legion. He enjoyed football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and reading mysteries. Agnes Mae Hart died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Rest Haven Nursing Home, York, Pa. She was 93. She was born in Donora, Pa., on May 3, 1921 to the late August and Ora Rhodes Gruller. Mrs. Hart worked in Nanty Glo, Pa., as a waitress and did housework before moving with a few girlfriends to Oxford, Pa., and began working in Elkton, at a factory that made rifle artillery for soldiers to use in the war. She was baptized and joined Little Britain Presbyterian Church in 1956 and was involved in the Women’s Willing Workers Association, attended Sunday school, and taught in their Vacation Bible School for many years. Lester W. “Butch” Parker, Jr., 63, of Holtwood, entered into rest suddenly on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at his home. Born in West Chester he was a son of the late Lester W., Sr. and Pauline E. (Myers) Parker. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ruth M. (Conley) Parker.
Butch was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Columbia and was previously employed by the former Wayne Feed Company. He had most recently been a self-employed decoy craftsman. He was an avid outdoorsman. Albert L. “Jake” Talley, Jr., 61, of Oxford passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Quarryville Presbyterian Home after a two year battle with melanoma. Born in Chester, PA he was the son of Albert L., Sr. and Georgianna Tuohey Talley of Oxford. He graduated from Oxford Area High School in 1971. Jake retired from his lawn care business. He attended New London Baptist Church. Jake enjoyed motorcycles, cookouts and especially spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. Mr. James Harold Pope, died peacefully at home on March 29, 2015 at his home in Kirkwood, PA at the age of 79, after fighting a long term illness. Jim is survived by his loving wife, of 49 years marriage, to Doris Ann Pope of Kirkwood, PA and their four children, Patricia Geraldine Wiseman of Hot Springs, VA, Robert O. Williamson of Port Deposit, MD, James Harold Pope, Jr. of Oxford, PA, and Sylvia Dawn Pope of Oxford, PA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and best friend Gracie, his dog. Jim was born on June 28, 1935 in Creston, North Carolina to Amon Carbon Pope and Rosea Elliot Pope. He had four brothers and two sisters. Agnes C. Frampton, 75, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Jennersville Hospital. Born in West Grove, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas D. and Anna (Bennett) Corby. She and her husband, David M. Frampton had celebrated 55 years of marriage in May. Agnes worked as a secretary for the Unionville School District and retired after 22 years of service. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed traveling, word challenges, vacations to the beach and spending time with her family. Agnes also volunteered at the Quarryville Library. |
