Debra Kay Murr, 64, of Millersville, died at Lancaster General Hospital Thursday, March 193/20/2020
Debra Kay Murr, 64, of Millersville, entered into rest on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Georgetown, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence L. and Esther F. Lorah. She was married to the late Glenn E. Murr, Jr. for 41 years. Deb was a graduate of Solanco High School and went on to work for Exide Technologies in Lampeter for over 30 years. Deb enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Deb is survived by 4 children: Colleen Lowery, Stacy Garver, Jessica (Curtis) Spoonhour, and Brad (Erin) Murr. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Austin, Kelsey, Kayla, Bryce, Blake, and Aiden. George L. Rynier, Jr., 75 of Kimberly Avenue, New Providence, PA died of natural causes at his residence on Thursday, March 19, 2020. He was the husband of Joan L. Stauffer Rynier. Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late George L. and Josephine Welch Geiter Rynier, Sr. George retired from UGI after 38 years of service as a service technician. He served his country during the Korean War in the US Army. George was a very family oriented man who enjoyed coin collecting, and NASCAR. Sara Hannah LeFevre, 86, formerly of Georgetown, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of the late Clarence D., and Erma (Graybill) Strawser. She was married to the late George R. LeFevre for 43 years. Sara had worked for the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community as a C.N.A. and an activities assistant. After her retirement, she worked as an usher at the American Music Theater. Sara enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sandra L. “Sandy” Foulk, 80, of Lancaster, formerly of New Providence, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Maple Farm Nursing Center. She was the loving wife of the late Clyde H. “Bud” Foulk, sharing 20 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 1994. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Gladys L. (Fisher) Parmer. Sandy was a graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg High School, class of 1957. In her early years, she worked for Bausch & Lomb. She then went on to care for her family and work part-time in various positions. John B. “Jack” Hunter, 87, of Strasburg passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Lancaster. He was the husband of Doris Bell Hunter to whom he was married for 66 years. John was a larger than life personality who in a positive way touched the lives of all with whom he came in contact. He constantly showed his abundant generosity and love to his family and friends. His affection for dogs was legendary. More than once he surprised his wife by coming home with a stray dog or two. He also revealed his mischievous, silly side particularly at the Outer Banks beach as he led the family in shooting off fireworks over the ocean and in flying kites until they zoomed out of sight. Barbara Ann Hess, 56, of Robert Fulton Highway, Peach Bottom, PA died Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at her residence. She and her husband Jack H. Hess were married August 11, 2000. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Bernice Rineer Kreider. Barbara had been employed as a lab technician for Buck Company. She had an unconditional love for animals and enjoyed taking trips to Potter County and Ocean City for bike week. Swimming in her pool and sun tanning were also great enjoyments for her. Stephen W. “Steve” Poirier, 49, of Holtwood, formerly of Steelton, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 under the care of Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Jennersville, he was the son of Victor A. and Valerie M. (Teal) Poirier. Steve was a graduate of Penn Manor High School, class of 1989. He then attended the Electronics Institute in Harrisburg and earned an associate’s degree. Steve found employment with Verizon as a computer specialist, retiring with 25 years of service. Lynne M. Hart, 62, of Nottingham PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Born in Lancaster PA, she was a daughter of the late Norman W. and Bernice Brauss Hart. Lynne enjoyed the outdoors. An active hunter and fisherman, she had helped at the Oxford Gun Club, and Southern Lancaster County Farmers Sportsman Association. She enjoyed fox hunting and working with horses. Lynne was a very active member of Little Britain Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon, and was involved with many church activities. Doris Simpkins Prewitt, 96, of Oxford, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Jenners Pond surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 18, 1923 in Salem, VA. Doris was the youngest of 6 children, belonging to Clarence and Patie Dickerson Simpkins. Doris was a member of the Jennersville Church of the Brethren, West Grove. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Mason Dixon Post #194, Rising Sun, MD. She was a stay at home mother who cared dearly for her family. Doris loved to make quilts for all the newborns in her family. During the winter of 2018 she helped assemble, tie and hem 17 quilts for the Linus Project. Everett P. Sumner, 95, of Quarryville, PA left this earthly world on March 10, 2020. Everett was the husband of June W. Sumner, who passed away in 2012. Everett is survived by sons E. Preston Sumner, Jr. (Christine) of Colorado and Tim (Darlene) of Ephrata; Grand-children Melissa Terrett, Jennifer Brobst, Bjorn Sumner and Blaine Sumner; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Peggy (Ralph) Blackburn and Ruthie (Bootsy) Ross, brothers Norman Sumner and Bill Sumner, and sister-in-law Edie Sumner. Everett served in the United States Army, participating in the Normandy Invasion and Battle of the Bulge as a sergeant in the 254th Combat Engineer Battalion. His unit was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation for their actions at the Battle of the Bulge. In 2014 Everett was awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal in a ceremony at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. Everett was a 57-year Mason, member of Charity Lodge No. 62, Elloree, SC. |
