Nancy M. Bartram, 81, of Oxford, PA passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. She was the wife of the late Bob Bartram and was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Kaschalk. Born in Johnstown, PA she was the daughter of the late Robert and Grace Marsh. Nancy was a member of the Oxford Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cardinals, spending time with her grandchildren and her fur baby Gizzy and her grand fur baby Benny. She also loved her companion of eight years, Bill Bradley. She was a social butterfly and had many friends. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Christel Preece (Scott Phillips) of Oxford; five grandchildren, Kansas, Austin and Bianca Preece; Ashton and Braelyn Phillips, a sister-in-law, Barbara Roberts; and many nieces and nephews. Mark J. Slobodjian, 61, of Little Britain, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 due to injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was the beloved husband of Michelle M. (Rebideau) Slobodjian, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage with. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Matthew and Patricia (Barnard) Slobodjian. Mark was a graduate of Interboro High School, class of 1978. Over the years, Mark studied law at Delaware County Community College, attended technical school for computer repair, and, most recently, attended Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology to become an electrician. He held various positions throughout his lifetime, most recently as a Supervisor for Peaceful Homes Property Management. Mark proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1979 to 1983, earning the rank of Signalman Seaman Apprentice. He was multi-talented and multi-skilled, taking everything he learned from his military experience and applying it to everyday life, especially the skill of mentoring others. Mary Jane Fraver, 94, of Cochranville, PA passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at home. She was the wife of the late Wilmer E. Fraver. Born in Russellville on September 17, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Helen McCrabb McComsey. Mary Jane was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She enjoyed walking, sewing, knitting, cooking and baking. Mary Jane “Janie” Higginbotham, age 85, of Quarryville, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023. She was the wife of the late Duncan “Sock” Higginbotham who passed away February 22, 2019. Born in Quarryville, she was the daughter of the late Landis and Claire Miller. Jane attended Wesley Church, Quarryville. She enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds, antiquing, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Dorothy M. Null, age 90, formerly of Holtwood, passed away at Emerald Rehab and Healthcare center of Elizabethtown, PA, on Monday, February 6, 2023.
She was the wife of the late Walter J. Null who died March 13, 1993. Born in Quarryville, she was the daughter of the late Leon H. & Mary Eckman Waltman. She enjoyed her vegetable garden and reading. June Kreider Garber, 92, of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died Thursday, February 22/7/2023
June (Kreider) Garber went to her heavenly reward on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the age of 92. She was in skilled care at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. June was the daughter of the late Eli and Laura Kreider from West Willow. She was the wife of the late Jay N. Garber of Lancaster. June is survived by two sisters, (remaining of 11 siblings), Mary Gehman and Fran Martin. In addition, June is survived by her son Don (J Donald) Garber and wife Kim (Darrenkamp) Garber, and Donna Mercer and husband Alex Mercer. She had five grandchildren who loved her very much: Jeffrey Garber, who preceded her in death, Emily and Kate Garber, April Aybar, and Alex (AJ) Mercer, as well as five great-grandchildren. Wilmer L. Hostetter went peacefully to his heavenly home Friday, February 3, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce L. Landis Hostetter. On February 8, 1938, Wilmer was born in Gap, PA to the late Jay and Margie (Hershey) Hostetter. Wilmer was in the dairy business and started the Joy-Wil registered Holstein Dairy. In 1976, Wilmer began a new business which is now Hostetter Grain Inc. Wilmer loved business and people. He also liked finding time for managing and coaching men’s softball, hunting, fishing, traveling and golf. He especially enjoyed the grandchildren and great-grandchildren sporting events. Family times were very important and enjoyable to Wilmer. Diane P. McMillan, age 62 of Quarryville, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Hospice and Community Care in Mt. Joy. She was the wife of the late Hood McMillan. She was born in Delaware, daughter of the late Walter and Phyllis Jennings Jones. Diane was an avid bingo player and always showed her love through cooking. Some of her most famous recipes were homemade chicken corn soup and Boston cream dessert. Hal Phipps, age 89 of Peach Bottom, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Hospice and Community Care. He was the husband of Shirley A. Halsey Phipps. He was born in Wrightdale, PA, son of the late Verner Paul and Pansy Adelade Johnston Phipps. Hal proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a member of Wrightsdale Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon for over 40 years. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, watching golf, and loved family get-togethers. Surviving besides his wife are 3 children: Sandy wife of Jeff Beers of Conestoga, Chip husband of Christine Gehman Phipps of Peach Bottom, Gary Phipps of Quarryville, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. Carol A. “Grammy” Geyer, 76, of New Providence, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at her home. She was the beloved wife of John H. Geyer, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of O. Pearl Heisler, of New Providence, and the late Charles Enos Heisler, Sr. Carol was a graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg High School, class of 1964. Over the years she performed secretarial work for Cable Associates (currently Comcast) and Ross Feed & Grain. Family was of utmost importance to Carol. She also loved to care for children in her home and was affectionately called “Grammy” by many. In her spare time, Carol enjoyed reading, especially mystery novels. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Jodi Geyer, of New Providence; grandchildren, Mikayla Geyer and Stephanie Geyer; step-grandchildren Krystal Seats and Ashley DeFranco; a brother, Richard L. Heisler, companion of Chris Campbell, of Lancaster; and a sister-in-law, Verna Heisler, of Oxford. |
