Ruth Y. Rineer, 87, of Strasburg, entered into rest at her home on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Born in West Willow, she was the daughter of the late Edgar S. and Ida (Shank) Reese. She was the loving wife of H. William Rineer for over 66 years. Ruth worked with her husband in the family business, H.C. Rineer Sons as a bookkeeper for over 25 years. She was a lifelong member of West Willow United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the women’s group. She was also a member of the Donegal Chapter #422 Order of the Eastern Star. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. She enjoyed antiquing and spending time away at the family cabin in Huntington County. Gus’s Keystone Family Restaurant in Mt. Joy was one of her favorite places to have lunch. Bishop John Hamilton, 95, of Oxford, PA went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, Helen Hamilton. Bishop Hamilton was born October 11, 1925 in Clifton, NC, the son of Zollie Hamilton and had one sibling. At the age of 16, he moved to Oxford, PA from West Jefferson, NC and worked on Mrs. Garrett’s farm on Chrome Road until 1953. He later held various positions in the mushroom business and was promoted to a truck driver. Bishop Hamilton was ordained as a minister and became an Elder of Reed’s AMUP Methodist Church, Northeast, MD. He also served as a Deacon and as an Associate Pastor in a church in Philadelphia for two years, but returned to Oxford to continue his ministry where he started Faith Tabernacle Church in 1982. In 1979, he preached his trial sermon at the Allen AME Church, Oxford, scripture St. John 14: 1-6. On February 5, 1982 he completed his Adult Basic Education classes at Avon Grove School District and was listed as one of the top students in the class. Jacob M. Zook, age 82 of 5540 White Oak Road, Paradise, PA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
He was the husband of the late Annie K. Miller Zook who passed away on June 2, 2020. Born in Gordonville, he was the son of the late Daniel L. and Susie Beiler Zook. Benjamin Thomas Rhoads, Sr., age 74, of Lancaster, formerly of Quarryville, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. He was the husband of Maxine H. Chalk Rhoads for over 32 years. Born in Strasburg, he was the son of the late George Lester Rhoads, Sr. and Mary Ellen Erwin Rhoads. He was a graduate of Lampeter Strasburg. He retired a welder from Herr & Sacco Inc. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, surf fishing, playing cards and games He was a member of Lancaster County Sportsman's Association. Frank S. Weidman, 89, of Christiana, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late Frank G. and Ella (Stoner) Weidman. He was married to the late Rosa J. (Hostetter) Weidman, who passed on December 25, 2011. Frank had dairy farmed for many years at his home farm on Maple Shade Road. He went on to haul livestock and taxi Amish in later years. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Christian Church. Frank enjoyed hunting and spending time at the family cabin in Huntington County. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his sons’ softball games. Eudora Marie “Dori” Giffing, age 67 of New Providence, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Lancaster General Hospital. She was the loving wife of Dale D. Giffing with whom she celebrated 11 years of marriage on July 31st. Born in Hershey she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Grace Nauman Derr. She worked as a switch board operator for Clipper Magazine for 16 years. Dori loved elephants, doing sudoku and crossword puzzles, reading, four wheeling, going to wine festivals, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a very loving wife and mother. |
