Mildred R. Wagner of Quarryville died at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Calvert, Md., on Sunday, February 8, 2015. She was 96.
Mrs. Wagner was born in Little Britain Township, a daughter of the late James E. and Ollie Herr Retzer. She and her husband operated a mushroom farm, starting in the early1960s. She was also a homemaker. Mrs. Wagner was a member of Solanco Bible Church, Quarryville. Otis L. Harrison of Strasburg died at home on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. He was 92. Mr. Harrison was born in Dinwidde, Va., a son of the late John and Otelia Barnes Harrision. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and participated in the D-Day landing in Normandy. He was a lumber salesman who worked in the mid-Atlantic region for many years. Mr. Harrison was an active member of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge, White Rock, Masonic Lodge 151, Franklin, Va., and a charter member of the Tanglewood Manor Golf Club. He worshiped at Ed Redentor and St. Paul's Lancaster United Methodist Church. Olive Marie McGuire, 84, of Willow Valley Lakes, entered into rest on Monday, February 9, 2015. She was born in Clymer, PA. Olive was a first grade teacher and taught in Birmingham, Michigan until her retirement with over 30 years of service.
She and her husband, Norman A. McGuire celebrated 44 years of marriage in June. She and Norman attended Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church in Quarryville. Rohm, 87, of Columbia and formerly Quarryville, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Born in Washington, PA she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Grace (Kellerman) Bennington. Helen was the wife of the late Dr. Curtis L. Rohm who died November 25, 2005. In 2007, Helen retired from the Buck Iron Corporation as secretary to the president. She was an involved member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church and also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Helen devoted her life to her husband’s career and her children. She enjoyed gardening, travel, camping and golfing. Benjamin Harrison Herr Jr. of Lakewood, Wash., died on January 6, 2015. He was 81.
Mr. Herr was born in Southern Lancaster County, a son of the late Benjamin H. and Kathryn Wolfe Herr. He served in a helicopter division in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and went on to serve for 22 years. Betty Marie Brubaker, 74, of Lancaster, entered into rest on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Born in Shade Gap, PA she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Dorothy (Vaughan) Covert. Betty and her husband, Charles C. Brubaker, Jr. had celebrated 47 years of marriage in June. Betty was a housewife. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at New Providence Church of God and also volunteered at the Quarryville Food Bank. She enjoyed traveling, especially her “girl trips”, camping, music, sports and spending time with her family. Doris Mae Good of One Masonic Dr., Elizabethtown, died on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. She was 100. Mrs. Good was born in Cecil County, Md., a daughter of the late Russell and Livinia Reynolds. She lived in Holtwood before moving to the Masonic Homes. Mrs. Good worked for the former Schick Co., Lancaster, for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of the Robert Fulton Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Quarryville, and had served as the chapter's Worthy Matron numerous times. |
