Mary Frances "Molly" Campbell, 91, of Quarryville, formerly of Cochranville, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community where she had resided since 2018.
She was the wife of the late Arthur B. Campbell who passed away in 2001. They were married for 49 years. Born in Bart Township, Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late James and Edna Rice Miller. Molly was a 1948 graduate of Solanco High School. She was a long time member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active with the Women's group for many years. More recently she was a member of the Cochranville United Methodist Church. Molly was a member of the Cochranville Golden Agers where she served as President for two terms as well as serving on many other committees. She and her husband enjoyed taking many trips together with the Golden Agers. Molly enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling, whether driving or flying. Emanuel R. Emanuel R. Smucker, age 49, of 340 A. South Belmont Road, Paradise, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Lancaster General Hospital.
He was the husband of Barbie K. King Smucker. Born in Quarryville, he was the son of Henry B. Smucker of Quarryville and the late Emma Riehl Smucker. Emanuel was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. James Rinier, age 84, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at home. He was the husband of Nancy Eager Rinier with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage October 2, 2021. Born in Albertus, PA, he was the son of the late Ira and Myrtle Rineer Rinier. James was a graduate of Paradise High School Class of 1955. He had worked in the Lancaster area for J. Miller Eshleman Quarry, Valite Paving, and was last employed by Ready Mix Concrete before his retirement. He enjoyed yard sales, NASCAR, car shows and his 1956 Ford Victoria. Gilbert J. Gilbert J. Bottomley, age 90 of Quarryville, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy Singer Bottomley with whom he celebrated nearly 70 years of marriage. Born in Granogue, DE, he was the son of the late Roland and Lulu Glanding Bottomley. Gilbert and Nancy both attended Calvary Monument Bible Church in Paradise and were previously members at Willowdale Chapel. He graduated from Kennett Consolidated High School, Class of 1949. He worked at Longwood Gardens in the greenhouse for over 38 years. Gilbert honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He volunteered at Wycliffe Bible Translators for over 15 years, was a life member of Longwood Fire Company, and he loved sports. Violet E. Steele, 92, of Oxford, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at her home. She was the wife of John E. “Jack” Steele with whom she shared 74 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Newton and Della M. Hershour McDowell. Violet was an active member of the Oxford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in the Church kitchen. Violet took pleasure in cooking and baking, sewing, quilting and recently reading the books from her Church library. She is survived by her husband; one son, John E. Steele, Jr. of Oxford; one daughter, Connie Slauch and her husband Peter Slauch of Oxford; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Delmar McDowell and two sisters, Marian Anderson and Deloris McClellan. Paul C. Aukamp of Strasburg Twp. left this Earth for Higher Ground on January 18, 2022 - one day after his 85th birthday; following complications from cancer. He was the 13th child of Jacob H. & Clara Groff Aukamp and celebrated 64 years of marriage to Barbara Leed Aukamp in December. Having attended a one-room school thru the 8th grade, Paul finished his formal education at Penn Manor High School. Becoming a skilled carpenter, he spent his working years in the construction industry at several companies, retiring from Wohlsen Construction. Mr. Aukamp loved using his skills to help others with many projects & designed and built their own home. In his early years, Paul was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster, serving in the scouting program, securing ushers and taping worship services. Joseph M. Hunt, 88, of Strasburg, PA and formerly of Natrona Heights, PA passed away peacefully on January 18, at the Bob Fryer & Family In-Patient Hospice Center, Mount Joy. He is survived by his wife, Patricia and his three children, Joseph M. Hunt, Jr. (Mary) of Jacksonville, FL, Valerie Hunt Griffin (Lynn Highhouse, Jr.) of Honesdale, PA, and Carol Hunt Scillia (Carl) of Cornwall, PA and his two grand-children, Erin and Alex Hunt, children of Joseph, Jr. He is also survived by his brother, Fred Hunt and numerous nieces, nephews and their families who live in Jacksonville, FL. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged in September of 1964. He was born June 5, 1933 in Newark, New Jersey of Irish Immigrant parents. Joe was a superb athlete in many sports throughout his high school career and played semi-professional football for the Franklin Miners in New Jersey. He graduated from Lafayette College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and specialized in marketing, research and product development for the Specialty Steel Division of Allegheny Ludlum Research in Brackenridge, Pa. Florence Elizabeth Moore, 66, of Conowingo, MD, went to meet her Savior on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at her home. She was the wife of the late Billy James Moore, Sr. with whom she shared 46 years of marriage. Born in Prairie City, OR she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Lucy V. Tester Rogers. Florence was a member of New Life Faith Center, Port Deposit, MD. She enjoyed knitting, listening to Christian music, reading the bible and attending church and especially spending time with her family. She is survived by one son, Billy James Moore, Jr. (Lori) of Gap; three grandchildren, Katelyn Brooks (Phillip) of Elkton, MD, Jasmyne Moore of Rising Sun, MD and Dawson Moore of Rising Sun, MD; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorreen Harris (Pete) of North East, MD and Susie Nagle of North East, MD; and four sisters-in-law, Marilyn Frazier (Larry) of Peach Bottom, PA, Linda Hensel (Bill) of Nottingham, PA, Betsy Apgar (Dave) of Conowingo, MD and Rose Marie Marrero (Junior) of Perryville, MD. Robert W. Danneman, 63, of Lancaster, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, January 17, 2022. Born in Dundalk, MD, he was the son of the late Kenneth M. Danneman, Sr. and Beatrice M. (Tinelli) Danneman. He was the loving husband of Mary Ellen (Harper) Danneman with whom he celebrated 24 years of marriage. Bob was a graduate of Dundalk High School, class of 1976. Having initially obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Oral Roberts University, he continued his education at Regent University and obtained a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies. After graduation, Bob helped to pastor a church for many years and then founded another church. He excelled in compassion, humility, and perseverance. In addition to pastoring a church, Bob chose employment in the field of social work. Most of his years were spent working for the State of Maryland in Baltimore City. He truly loved being out in the field connecting people with resources that would keep their families together and improve their lives. Allen L. Henderson, 90, of Quarryville, formerly of Pennsville, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 16, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Alberta D. (Davis) Henderson, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Salem, NJ, he was the son of the late Herbert and Katie (Owens) Henderson. Allen was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1948. He then proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1950. After discharge from the Navy, Allen found employment with Acme Markets, first as a meat cutter, then later as a meat manager, retiring with 35 years of service. When Allen moved to New Providence, he found employment with Willow Valley Communities, working in security and transportation, and he retired with 22 years of service. |
