Alicia Sterling Rush of Strasburg died at Willow Valley on Thursday, June 25, 2015. She was 98. Mrs. Rush was born in Binghampton, N.Y., a daughter of the late Cora and Warren G. Sterling. She was active in theater productions in Lancaster. She was one of the first females to act in Green Room productions at Franklin & Marshal College. She remained active with those productions from the 1930s through the 1950s. Mrs. Rush also acted in and produced works at the Fulton Opera Company and ran her own theater, The Cricket Theater. She was also active with the Historic Strasburg Dinner Theater.
She also operated the Rush School of Theater Arts in the Solanco area and taught dance and elocution. Mrs. Rush was a charter member of the Quarryville Teenage Club and directed the Miss Solanco Pageant for 28 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and her loyal pets, Josie and Vickie. Mrs. Rush had been a member of Zion United Church of Christ since 1964. She is survived by three children, John R. "Rocky", husband of Ilka Rush, Warren D. "Chipper" Rush, and Robert C., husband of Barbara Rush; four grandchildren, Tanja Rush, life partner of Ingo Roedler of Germany, Robert C. II, husband of Chris Rush of Texas, Matthew P., husband of Marla Rush, and Peter B., husband of Tasia Rush of San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jana, Andrew, Madison, Mason, Tristan, Caylee, and Grace; her stepgrandchild, Chikara Davis; and her great-great-grandson, Sebastian. She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Bradley; her nephew, Larry Davis; her family friend, Bill Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, John M. Rush, is deceased. A memorial service will be held from Zion United Church of Christ, 900 Winter Hill Rd., at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, with the the Rev. Teresa Hughes-Martin and the Rev. Dr. James R. Haun officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the service and after the service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Servant Stage Company, 201 W.
