Willard “Mac” McCardell of Perryville died Friday, April 17, 2015 at the home of his daughter in Perryville. He was 85. Born February 12, 1930 in Perryville, he was the son of the late Willard “Bus” McCardell and Edna Abrams McCardell. After serving in the U.S. Marines from 1948-1950, Mr. McCardell worked at the Aberdeen Proving Ground for 36 years as a Civilian Gunner and as an equipment mechanic in the sanitation division when he retired in 1985. He is survived by his children to his first wife, Jane Bailey; daughter, Wilma Denton and husband, Charles; son, George McCardell and wife, Joan; daughter, Marge Skowran and husband, Bill; grandchildren, George McCardell, Jr and wife, Cathy, Cristina McCardell, Michelle Huesman, Jennifer Zink and husband, Fred, and Heather Lowe; great grandchildren, George McCardell, III, Brittany Charsha, Faith Hunter, Eryn Huesman, and Molly Zink; sister, Thelma Kline; nieces, Dianna Starks and Helen Marini; and nephew, Kenny Kline.
He is also survived by the son of his second wife, Joan Thompson McCardell, Timothy Thompson and wife Eileen and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. McCardell was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Bailey McCardell; his second wife, Joan Thompson McCardell; and his sister, Irene Herrman. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, 11 a.m., at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015, 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Vernon L. Schmid of Ebenezer United Methodist Church of Rising Sun, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Marks Cemetery, Perryville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bernard L. Tobin American Legion Post No. 128 in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O.
