Stephen B. Cole of Perryville died at Heartland Hospice, Wilmington, Del., on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. He was 77. Mr. Cole was born in Rising Sun, a son of the late Lee Samuel and Alverda Edmiston Cole. He was raised in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Quarryville High School. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.
He worked as an auto mechanic, in auto sales, and later as a maintenance mechanic for Continental Container in Phoenixville, Pa. Mr. Cole was a member of Doric Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons. He enjoyed bluegrass music, attending Buck tractor pulls and local fairs, fishing, tinkering with cars, and going to Long's Park to feed the park animals. Mr. Cole is survived by two children, Kevin C., husband of D. Kim Cole of Perryville, and Ronda, wife of Gary Rehm of Quarryville; a granddaughter, Jessica; four step-grandchildrne, Lauren, Kathryn, Robert, and Gregory; his brother, James Harold, husband of Joann Cole of Refton; and his sister, Betty Duvall of Chester Springs. A grandson, Kevin C. Cole Jr., is deceased. Friends may call at Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, 144 E. State St., Quarryville, from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4. Services will be held from the funeral home at 2 p.m. on that date with Pastor Blake Deibler officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Peach Bottom.
