Ruth Emma Estes Dever of Perryville died Friday, at home January 24, 2014. She was 81. Born February 13, 1932 in Aldino, she was the daughter of the late John Howard and Dorothy Virginia Bozzi Estes. She formerly worked as a Secretary at the Bainbridge Naval Training Center of Bainbridge, Secretary at Mt. Ararat Farm of Port Deposit, and Supply Coordinator at the V.A. Maryland Health System of Perry Point. Mrs. Dever attended the North East United Methodist Church of North East, and loved going to the Elk Neck State Park outdoor chapel in the summer. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, swimming and spending time with her family. She loved her vacations with her girls.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Sue Plank and husband, Scott, of York, Pa., Sandra Lynn Bowman and husband, Fletcher, of Darlington, Ruth Ann Young and companion, Roger Ball, of Port Deposit, and Susan Margaret Sharpless and husband, Larry, of North East; grandchildren, Jereme, Justin, Jessica, Brittney, Amy, Meghan, Bethany and Randy; nine great grandchildren; and sister, Patsy Jane Estes of Port Deposit. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, George Edwin Dever, Jr., and brother, Madison Howard Estes. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 30, 2014, 11 a.m., at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville. Visitations for family and friends will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2014, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Rev. Harold L. Hubble of Great Hope Bible Church of Jarrettsville, will officiate. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Port Deposit. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation in care of Lee A.
