Roger “Pete” Smythe, 79 of North East, MD, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at home. Born in Greenhurst, MD, on July 27, 1935, he was the son of the late Wilmer Grey and the late Belle Virginia (Honaker) Smythe. . Pete retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground where he worked in the Boiler Plant. He previously worked at Perry Point VA Medical Center as a Nursing Assistant. He enjoyed fishing and blueglass music. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and golfing. He was also an avid Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens fan.
Survivors include his loving wife: Albertha (Meekins) Smythe of North East, MD;5 daughters: Pamela Ray (Jack) of Aberdeen, MD, Janelle Smythe of Parsons, KS, Pixie Smythe-Maes (Brandon) of North East, MD, Wendy Tippett (Tom) of Rising Sun, MD, Terri Greer (Jeff) of North East, MD and one son: Nathaniel Smythe (Jessica) of Bel Air, MD; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Tracy Lorraine Smythe and Kimberly Faye Smythe Hunt. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Phil Meekins will be held Monday, November 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where the family will receive guests on Sunday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Interment will be follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia Foundation, both in care of the funeral home. Comments are closed.
