Roger James Stewart, of Rising Sun, died July 24, 2018 at Union Hospital, Elkton. He was 84. He was the son of the late Mary Duvall Ruth and Roscoe Stewart and step-son of the late Harry B. Ruth. Roger was employed at Wiley Manufacturing in Port Deposit for 32 years as a welder. He then worked at Cameron's Supply of Oxford, Pa. He was a contractor at Aberdeen Proving Ground and then retired from Sears at Prices Corner, Del. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maxine Brown Stewart; son, Dennis Stewart, of Abingdon; daughter, Debra Stewart, of Baltimore and sister, Marlene Hamilton, of Cochranville, Pa. Roger was a member of Janes United Methodist Church and a member of the Stephens Ministry. He was a Cub Scout Master for five years of Cub Pack #164 in Rising Sun. He loved to hunt wild game and always had beagle dogs. He was member of the Chesapeake Beagle Club and Maryland Beagle Club. He served a term as President of Calvert PTA. He was also a member of the last senior class to graduate from Calvert High School in 1951.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Janes United Methodist Church, 213 N. Walnut Street in Rising Sun with visitation one hour prior to the service. Reverend Bert Jacha will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Janes United Methodist Church. Comments are closed.
