Richard Darney of Conowingo died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Union Hospital. He was 75. Born March 12, 1939, in Vestaburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Andrew and Rose Darney. Mr. Darney retired from Aberdeen Proving Grounds after being a transportation operator for the U.S. Government motor pool. He also retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service. Mr. Darney was a Steelers fan and enjoyed watching the games and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter Deanna Pinner and her husband Mark of, Brooksville, Fla.; stepsons, Wayne Nichols and his wife Shirley of Conowingo, Edward Nichols and his wife Carrie of, Conowingo, Rick Nichols and his companion Denise Paugh of, Bel Air, Randy Nichols and his wife Patty of North East, and Ralph Nichols and his wife Melisa of Rising Sun; stepdaughters, Dianna Malpas and her husband Bruce of Fulton, Ill., Phyllis Steinhauer and her husband Arthur of Conowingo, Suzie Ewing and her husband Steve of Colora, and Pamela Nichols-Saunders and her husband John of Conowingo; sisters, Rose Janet Keys and her husband Tom of, Carmichael, Pa., and Kathleen Ostrem of Arizona. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Helen, stepson, Marvin Nichols, one grandchild, and two brothers. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Conowingo Baptist Cemetery. Comments are closed.
