Myrtle Emma McNeal of Newark, Del., died Sunday, May 25, 2014. She was 92. Born in Wilmington, Del., on June 14, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and the late Nora (Mitchell) Custin. During World War II, she worked at Blanka Aircraft, New Castle, Del. She was a true ‘Rosie the Riveter.’ She enjoyed bingo and camping, having a campsite in Indian Acres since its beginnings in the early 1970s.
Mrs. McNeal is survived by three children, Fran Baldwin of Newport, Del., Jim L. McNeal of Tolchester, and Darlene Corron of North East; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters. She was a homemaker and wife of 68 years to the late James H. McNeal. In addition to her husband and parents, shee was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Custin. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 30, 2014 at 2 p.m. at The Chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, Del., where the family will receive guests beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park.
