Helen Hotra Eder, 86, of Chesapeake City, MD, passed away at home Sunday, May 28, 2017. Born in Chesapeake City on August 11, 1930, she was the last surviving child of the late Alexander and Tekla Podwirna Hotra. Mrs. Eder retired from Mopar Division of Chrysler Corporation, Newark, DE where she had been a key punch operator and belonged to UAW 1212. She was a lifelong active member of St. Basil Ukrainian Catholic Church, Chesapeake City, MD and enjoyed singing in the church choir. An avid reader, she enjoyed traveling and going crabbing. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, John Joseph "Jack" Eder; daughter, Joan Bonsall and husband, Frank, Elkton, MD; granddaughters, Melinda Campbell, April Auer and Brittany Bonsall and great grandsons, Christian, Tucker, Jackson and Mason.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Eder was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Steve, John, Joseph, Ann, Mamie, Sophie, Olga and Catherine. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 1 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD with Panachyda service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Friday, June 2 at St. Basil Ukrainian Catholic Church, 231 Basil Avenue, Chesapeake City with interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Lock Street, Chesapeake City.
