Lori A. McDowell of Oxford, Pa., died at home on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. She was 46. Mrs. McDowell was born in Jennersville, Pa., a daughter of Kenneth and Joanne Ayers Skelton of Rising Sun. She was a 1985 graduate of Rising Sun High School, where she was a drummer in the jazz, concert, and marching bands. She played in the All-County Band for three years. Mrs. McDowell was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Oxford, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed spots, the outdoors, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 25 years, Douglas W. McDowell; her son, Paul H. McDowell, at home; two daughters, Katherine M. McDowell of Newark, Del., and Kristine N. McDowell, at home; and two sisters, Sharon Nickle of Lancaster County, Pa., and Catherine E. Skelton of Delaware. A brother, Kenneth Skelton, is deceased. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, from Bethany Presbyterian Church, 2483 Baltimore Pike, Oxford PA 19363. Burial will be private.
