Bonnie Racine, a lifetime resident if Elkton, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 13. She was 66. Born on April 16, 1951, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Tom Racine; parents Lloyd Shank and Nellie Remmel Shonert; and sister, Frances Shank. Bonnie retired from the Cecil County Public Library after more than 30 years of service. She was a devoted Christian and loyal member of Haven Community Church. Bonnie found great joy in making sure no one ever went hungry, whether it was family dinners, or endless snacks for Bible studies and bunco nights, or preparing countless meals for the homeless through The Paris Foundation, rotating shelter, and community kitchen. She will be sorely missed by her survivors, her daughters, Denise Cronin and husband Brian of Earleville, and Katie Doan and husband Mike, of Lumberton, TX; honorary daughter, Michele Tolbert, of Elkton; and her seven grandchildren whom she loved and spoiled tirelessly, Willie, Rachel, Hanna, Sydney, Brandon, JT, and Lily.
And although her passing left a hole in our hearts, we fins comfort in knowing she is with her Savior and reunited with Dad. We know her kindness and generosity will live on in all this whom she loved. A small and casual memorial service was held at 11 on Saturday, June 17 at Haven Community Church, 48 Flint Drive, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be greatly appreciated to Haven Community Church, or to The Paris Foundation, in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921.
