Joy A. "Kandi" McDowell of Calvert died Monday, July 15, 2013 at Northwest Hospital Hospice, Randallstown. She was 57. Born in Wilmington, Del., on November 10, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Ralph A. and the late Bertha (Jamison) Aument. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother, loved family and doted on her pets. Mrs. McDowell will be remembered for her humor and upbeat personality as well as her kind and generous heart. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, outdoor activities, horseback riding, fishing, and was an avid gardener giving most of her abundant harvest to family and friends. She loved to cook & bake for everyone and we will all miss her cakes and pies.
She was a certified CNA, previously worked at West Nottingham School, did several years of home care and worked the past five years at Shorehaven School. She loved and took a special interest in the children at the school and cared for them as if they were her own. Their love for her is reflected in the many handmade cards and well wishes they sent her during her illness. She is survived by her husband, James E. McDowell of Calvert; a son, Lance Roberts of Wilmington, Del.; two stepchildren, James E. McDowell of Rising Sun, and Lisa Kegley of Elkton; a brother, Ralph Aument and his wife Rosemary; four sisters, Phyllis Cooke: Patsy Henson: Eileen Rogalewicz and her husband Martin and Gail Aument; and five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Keener; and sisters, Sue Ellen Jampggard and Linda Carroll. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Dan Walker, were held Friday, July 19, 2013 from Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery, near North East. Comments are closed.
