John Cameron Racine of North East died August 17, 2014. He was 71. Born in Elkton on April 9, 1943, he was the son of the late William P. and Mariane Creswell Racine. Mr. Racine was a retired salesman and business owner. An avid bowler, he started his bowling career at Elk Lanes and continued his love of bowling throughout his life at Brookside Bowl and Pleasant Hill Lanes. He promoted the sport of bowling every chance he could and was recognized for this with his induction into the Wilmington Bowling Hall of Fame in 2008 for Proprietor of Yesteryear. Not only did he excel at the game of bowling, but Mr. Racine was also known to be a fierce competitor in his younger days on both the football and softball fields. He will always be remembered for his bright smile, sense of humor, and endless generosity.
Survivors include his children, Corrie Racine and Brian Racine and his wife, Nicole; grandsons, Gage Cameron Scarberry and Matthew Racine; and siblings, Bill Racine and his wife, Jean, and Margaret Webb and her husband, Ron. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brittany Racine. A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the John C. Racine Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
